Carlie is four years old, and like most little girls her age, is a certified princess. However, one part of Carlie's life doesn't fit the fairly tale. Carlie suffers from a complication caused by sickle cell disease. As a result of this complication, Carlie needs a blood transfusion every three weeks.

Carlie is a very kind and giving
child. Just recently, she found a pair
of her favorite shoes that could no longer fit her. Even though her mother (Carla) wanted to keep them for
sentimental reasons, Carlie insisted the shoes be given to a “little girl with smaller
feet who do not have shoes!”
So that she can continue to care for others, Carlie hopes to become a nurse or "a fairy godmother" when she grows up.
Carlie is extremely brave and inquisitive. She asks a lot of questions, but never asks why she has to endure hospital procedures. She is truly an amazing child!
About Carlie's treatment...
Frequent blood transfusions are costly and risky as a temporary treatment for Carlie's illness. Currently, the only permanent solution may be a bone marrow transplant. No one in Carlie's immediate family is a match for bone marrow donation.

By agreeing to be tested, becoming a registered bone marrow donor, and/or by making a monetary donation, you can help us save Carlie and other children just like her who deserve a fighting chance.
